Advancement

There are so many ways to engage and participate in the life of our school. Your support of SMES ensures that our students are inspired and lifted up by our community each year, building on a strong tradition of philanthropy that makes certain the school is equal to their aspirations day by day.

The Advancement Department is here to continually build relationships between the school and our families to create a culture of philanthropy. Like most independent schools, St. Martin's relies on philanthropic support from our community to sustain and enhance our excellent programs while advancing our school's mission.

At SMES, the main sources of income beyond tuition include: The St. Martin’s Fund, our annual giving campaign; Georgia GOAL, a state tax-credit program for need-based financial assistance; and the Golf Tournament, our annual golf tournament benefiting the SMES Endowment. From time to time, as capital and infrastructure needs arise, SMES will implement special capital fundraising campaigns.

Ultimately, all gifts to SMES allow the school financial flexibility and to operate with a balanced budget.

Support from alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends strengthens today's efforts while ensuring the promise of tomorrow. We welcome everyone to participate in the life of our school actively!

Ways to Give

List of 4 items.

  • The St. Martin's Fund

The St. Martin’s Fund is our highest giving priority and the most significant way in which the school covers costs that tuition cannot. This includes funding for innovative technology; curricular enhancements; facility safety improvements; need-based tuition assistance; and robust professional development for faculty and staff.
Each and every gift impacts our programs and shapes your child’s experience. We ask that all families contribute at a level that is comfortable for you. Every year we hope for 100% parent participation.
  • Georgia Goal

Redirect a portion of your state tax dollars to SMES’s tuition assistance program through Georgia GOAL. This dollar-to-dollar tax credit program is at no cost to you and provides critical funding at St. Martin’s.
  • Golf Tournament

Since 2002, the St. Martin's Golf Tournament has raised more than $550,000 for the school's Endowment Fund. Like all independent schools, St. Martin's relies on the Endowment Fund for future generations. In addition, the investment income from this fund enables the school to provide tuition assistance to deserving students and support teacher professional development.
  • PTO

The St. Martin’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) plays an integral role in the life of the school. Separate from the Advancement Department, parents support SMES through social, fundraising, and community engagement activities throughout the year.
