BRAVO! SMES Thespians

The St. Martin's Drama Club recently attended the Georgia Jr. Thespian Conference (ThesCon) in Columbus, Ga. and came home with accolades galore.  The Warrior Thespians won four overall Superior scores and qualified 17 students for the International Thespian Conference held this summer at the University of Indiana. The conference hosts 6,000 students worldwide.

The SMES troupe also placed three entries out of nine in the final conference Showcase, an honor reserved for the conference's individual event entries with the top scores.

Charlie Kaufman, Bryson Seebach, Ryan Akin, Natalia Parra, Addison Davis, Daisy Whittington, Katherine Bryson, Charlotte Terry, Luc Rusche, Hanson Berg, Julie Urban, Meredith Seib, Eden Seib, Mackenzie Palmer, and Alessandro Paiardini qualified in the Group Musical Theatre Category with a song from the musical “Something Rotten.” This number was the final performance of the Showcase and the conference and marked ten straight years that St. Martin's has held the honor of being the closing number.

Luc Rusche and Hanson Berg qualified in the Musical Theatre Duet category with a song from “Frozen: The Broadway Musical.”

ThesCon is not just about performing; it also showcases students’ technical theatre and design talents.  Rylie Gardnier scored an overall Superior in Costume Construction for her design from “The Three Musketeers,” and Hanson Berg also scored a Superior in Costume Design for “The Wizard of Oz.”
