Explorers Extended Day

• Explorers is an aftercare program; enrollment is required and drop-ins are not permitted.
• Explorers provides care for students until 6 p.m. following their grade-level dismissal at the end of the school day.
• There is no aftercare on half days, school closure days or conference days.
• Afternoon Explorers for Beginners through 8th Grade begins on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
• Afternoon Explorers for Toddlers begins on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Early Childhood (Toddlers, Beginners, Pre-K)

• OPTION 1: $1,050 - 5 days, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
• OPTION 2: $2,315 - 5 days, from 1:30-6 p.m.
• Pickup: Claiborne Hall; no pickup between 2:30–3:20 p.m.

This program is fully licensed by the Georgia Department of Human Services and follows Bright from the Start guidelines, meeting all state child care program requirements. 

Lower School (Kindergarten - 4th grade)

• $1,390 - 5 days, from 2:50-6 p.m.
• Pickup: Warrior Hall, no pickup between 2:30–3:20 p.m.

Lower School Express (Kindergarten - 4th grade) - Offered to families who wish to pick up a Lower School student alongside an Early Childhood sibling from Claiborne Hall.

• $500 - 5 days, from 2:50 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

Middle School (5th - 8th grade)

• $1,390 - 5 days, from 3:10-6 p.m.

Complimentary Wednesday Morning Explorers 

To support late-start Wednesdays, Explorers welcomes students beginning at 7:40 a.m. This complimentary service is available to all SMES students, can be used as needed throughout the school year, with no prior registration required. 

For the 2026-27 school year, Explorers registration will be open from Wednesday, April 15, to Saturday, May 30. 

Billing & Fees

• Fall semester billed to FACTS by the end of September.
• Spring semester billed to FACTS by the end of February.

Fees

• All fees are per semester.
• A late fee of $5 per minute per child will be charged for pick-ups after your selected pick up time.

How to obtain receipts for taxes and Dependent Care Reimbursement

If you have a Dependent Care Reimbursement plan and need a receipt for summer camp, enrichment classes and/or Explorers after care, please find the session you need by following the procedures listed below. 

• Log into your FACTS account and choose the option to View Details.

• Choose View Payment Summary.

• Select the year 202X in the drop down and click Print. Note our Federal Tax ID prints in the top right corner of the report. Federal Tax ID: 58-1495174

• Alternatively, to print only Explorers information, select Transactions and use the drop down boxes to filter the specific Explorers information desired. This will show the Dates in Service (these are also on the invoice you are sent from the FACTS system).

For Summer Camp, Holiday Camp or Enrichment Receipts::

• Log in to the account used to register for Enrichment classes, holiday camp or summer camp.

• After logging in, click the red button with the wording "View Registration Details" 

• On the next page find the  section on the right titled "Financial" and click the  hyperlink that reads "Download Printable Season Account Statement"
