Thank you for your interest in St. Martin’s Episcopal School.

The gift of a wholehearted dedication to your child’s education.

St. Martin’s is Atlanta’s preschool through 8th-grade experience dedicated to graduating well-rounded individuals ready to wholeheartedly embrace life.  We do this by giving students the personalized attention, instruction and support they need as they learn about the world and themselves through intellectual adventures, extracurricular opportunities and spiritual formation.

We believe the transition from children to young adults is a time to savor and celebrate, and the best time to develop a strong foundation on which students can build for the rest of their lives.

Mission & Values

St. Martin's Episcopal School is dedicated to providing a quality education of the whole person in a loving, Christian atmosphere which fosters lifelong learning.

FAITH
We build a strong foundation of values and beliefs inspired by our Episcopal heritage and principles.

KINDNESS
We model St. Martin, who shared his cloak with a beggar, by unselfishly serving others and treating everyone with respect.

FRIENDSHIPS  We develop deep relationships with others in the St. Martin’s family, which often last a lifetime.

UNIQUENESS  We embrace our differences, recognizing that each of us is wonderfully made in the image of God.

POSSIBILITIES  We try new things, because they may reveal gifts and interest that lead to opportunities, achievements - perhaps, even, to a calling.

MILESTONES  We believe that experiencing transitions through childhood makes for more confident, responsible young adults.

GROWING UP  We cherish these childhood years of learning, play and discovery...because they only come once.

  • Why Preschool-8th?

    Safe and Nurturing

The culture of a Preschool – 8 school is free from the impact of high school. No matter how much middle school students are shielded from older students, they are still influenced by the proximity and the appeal of the freedoms of older adolescents. Middle School students need a safe space where they can be silly and awkward, far away from the appraising eyes of older students. St. Martin’s offers that safe, nurturing space, where students mature at just the right pace and leave our campus ready to take on high school and the world. Our students are free to stay "younger" a bit longer.

    Role Model

At St. Martin’s, contact with younger students has a positive influence on students’ behavior. Our Buddy Program, which teams older and younger children in a variety of projects and activities for the purpose of community building, endows older students with a sense of responsibility as role models for their buddies while providing often insecure pre-adolescents with adoring fans. St. Martin's students assume early leadership responsibilities, and the result is greater confidence and self-esteem.

    Research

Recent educational research has studied the relationship between a school’s grade span and its ability to implement programs characteristic of an exemplary middle school. Findings indicate that the optimal setting for a high-quality middle level education includes both primary and middle grades. In these schools and at St. Martin’s, there is a balanced emphasis on intellectual maturation and social-emotional growth. Creating a nurturing environment facilitates the ability to provide a challenging, rigorous education. St. Martin’s prepares students with a solid foundation of learning skills and a strong knowledge base, ensuring a smooth and successful transition to high school.
At St. Martin's, everybody knows your name. There is a sense of belonging that intensifies over the 10 years that a child grows from 4 to 14, both for the child and for his family. Parents at a Preschool – 8 school are more inclined to stay connected and involved beyond the elementary school years, a factor which correlates highly with student success. The school becomes a virtual neighborhood in which families raise their children together, creating a web of enduring bonds among one another and with the faculty and administration.

    Lifelong Connections

Finally, the "St. Martin's Connection" continues throughout life. Our graduates maintain the close friendships they acquire during their years at St. Martin's. Everyone looks forward to the annual alumni events, where graduates return to experience and remember their time at St. Martin's.
  • Why Choose an Episcopal School?

343831_3510081.jpgBeing an Episcopal School gives us the ability to ground our student’s education in Christian values. This means students are known in our school community and that their dignity is respected. Likewise, they are taught how to see each other and how to respect each other’s dignity. Students are loved here and that love is made visible every day. Our students are aware that they are part of something bigger than themselves and therefore have the courage necessary to contribute to the world and find their place. Click here to learn more about spiritual life at St. Martin's.
