What if your child could not only travel to another country, but live in
another culture with a peer and his or her family? What if your child could
visit a cosmopolitan city, an indigenous cultural center, a historic
district dating back centuries, a beautiful beach, and the world’s
most significant trade conduit?
Is your child ready for more?
The ability to appreciate a global perspective is grounded in truly understanding different cultures and is a defining characteristic of an increasingly mobile society. Atlanta is home to Fortune 500 companies, universities, hospitals and international organizations where many languages are spoken and many cultures represented. The St. Martin’s community is increasingly mobile, as well, with many students sharing rich stories of mission trips and family travel abroad.
St. Martin’s Episcopal School offers 7th-and 8th-grade students a chance to participate in an inbound and/or outbound exchange program with our partner school the Colegio Episcopal de Panamá in Panamá City, Panamá. Each fall, a number of St. Martin’s middle school families are selected to host students arriving from Panama for a two-to three-week stay and each summer, St. Martin’s students can apply for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live the life of a student overseas. Students on both sides of the exchange live with a host family, follow a school schedule, share meals, travel around the region and learn a second language and experience a variety of activities in the most advantageous circumstances--true immersion.
The Colegio Episcopal de Panamá is the alma mater of St. Martin’s Head of School Dr. Luis Ottley who founded the exchange more than 20 years ago. Click here to learn more!
